While we may not always see eye to eye on every issue, Councillor Ben Brooks is demonstrating the kind of leadership we need more of in local government. His commitment to ensuring the municipal budget in the Municipality of Lunenburg (MODL) reflects the needs of the many—not just the wants of a few—is exactly the direction we should be heading.
Councillor Brooks’ message about being open to hearing from everyone, especially those who haven’t felt able to speak up, shows his dedication to truly representing the people. It’s not about meeting every demand, but making sure decisions are made with the community in mind and within the practical constraints we face.
This is how we build better governance in the Municipality of Lunenburg: through accountability, transparency, and listening to what matters to the people. We may not agree on everything, but this is a positive change, and it’s encouraging to see leadership that prioritizes what’s best for the community.
We encourage Councillor Brooks to keep this approach in the future, and we ask for patience and for him not to give up on this approach. People are not yet used to this kind of governing, but with time, it will work. Councillor Brooks’ leadership will help guide us to better decisions and stronger community involvement.
